Orienteering

Tuesday 15 November 2011
Today Rm13 walked to the wharehui to learn what orienteering was about. When we went to the wharehui we met a women named Val Robertson. She knew most about Orienteering. After that, Val stopped explaining with us and we walked under the canopy and managed ourselves to get into 4 groups of 6. Then we got 1 map at a time and had to find our way around the school to find the right number that we needed to staple on our piece of paper that had A1, A2, A3, and B1, B2, B3, and C1, C2, C3, and, D1, D2, D3.
The first one to finish was Travis who came first. Tasi came second and Wiki came third. They found all the places on all the maps.

Visual Art

In Term 4 we have been creating artworks called surrealism. Surrealism is a style of art when you combine unrelated objects together which make up something new.
ü     In Room 13, first we cut out different types of pictures from magazines.
ü     Then we glued our pictures on a white piece of paper.
ü     After, we cut our creations out and mounted them on coloured paper.

Road Patrols

On Monday the 7th of November, 17 lucky Year 5 students were chosen to participate and contribute their leadership skills by doing a very responsible job of taking care of our younger kids at Yendarra School. We were learning how to be road patrollers for 2012. The skills we learnt were how to use a loud voice when the lollypop signs go out and come back in. Also we learnt how to check the speed of cars so that we can get the signs out safely.
Looking forward to seeing you being leaders and keeping children road safe!!

Smile Poem

Smile

My smile is as big as the sun.
My smile is as big as a ball.
My smile is as big as a forest.
My smile is as long as a snake.
My smile is as bright as a light.
My smile is as colourful as a flower.
My smile is as wide as the ocean.
My smile is as bright as the moon.
My smile is as curvy as a roof.
